us for our midday newscast. i'm ginger conejero saab and i'm scott mcgrew. we will get to the president's trip in that top story in just a second. there is breaking news. big bart delays for commuters a wayside equipment problem is leading to a service interruption between bart's richmond station and oakland's macarthur station. now that interruption is impacting red and orange line services. you're looking at video from the ashby bart station in berkeley, where people showed up this morning to fight closed gates and had no way of getting on board. now, this all started around 515 this morning. we caught up with some commuters at the macarthur station who say they are frustrated by the situation. i got to jump on a bus now to get home, i hope this doesn't happen tomorrow. i don't know if it's just a one day thing, but yeah, it's definitely an inconvenience. and, they should have had shuttles for the people getting off the train to take them to the destination at least. but that wasn't the case. mike inouye has been tracking the details about this all
11:02 am
morning long. and no, no sign of this wrapping up yet. no not really a lot of update at all. they just don't know. bart bart's crews are on scene trying to take care of it. let me show folks over here. mr. corral, you just heard from him. he's over at the macarthur station in oakland. now, between richmond and oakland, there's sort of a serpentine route there. none of those trains are running because of that problem alongside the tracks. and oftentimes we will hear about a bus bridge dedicated by bart to the bart relief. but there is no dedicated train service. i also want to point out that even though it's friday, we still see slowing on the east shore freeway as well as richmond. so i-80 westbound, which would be your alternate if you're taking the roadway instead of those bart trains, it is a little heavier traffic than we often see, perhaps. related. that's the note. now, let me lay it out. there's a lot of words here, but we're talking about no red line service until further notice. now, along that same track operates the orange line that's not operating between richmond and macarthur stations. and so you can take the bus some bus routes to the macarthur station. from that point, you can get over to millbrae, where you take the shuttle to sfo.
11:03 am
important note as well. yellow green and blue lines are not impacted and we just follow bart for those updates. their twitter account has been updating a couple of times, but not a lot of info. we've got what we've got. that's what it is right now. we'll update you if it happens to have a change before the end of the show. back to you. all right mike, thanks. live. look at san francisco. the president, first lady preparing for several bay area fundraisers . and as you might imagine, protesters are getting ready to preparing to line the president's route to portola valley. and that's where nbc bay area's kris sanchez joins us live with what the president will see as he goes on by chris. are these protesters just arrived and started to gather in the last five, ten minutes or so? you see them here, they're going out onto the field where they hope to line alpine road with these messages on their boards. hands off. rafa says stop arming israel, stop the support of the war, stop the genocide. and then also messages to fund schools instead and to
